In late January, Haas MBAs returned to campus to begin our spring semester classes. Our team was eagerly anticipating our IBD class, where we were looking forward to working with an international client in an unknown part of the world.
At our first class, our group was announced that we would travel to Indonesia and work with an e-commerce company - the Amazon of rural Indonesia. This start-up company was focused on offering both a marketplace of fast-moving consumer goods, as well as the logistics network to deliver to rural areas that often were beyond the reach of typical e-commerce suppliers, and wanted our support for a combination of 1) piloting new product category launches and 2) driving operational excellence and efficiencies.
Our team was enthusiastic about the client, ready to get to work understanding our client, their country, and prepare for our first trip to Indonesia!
